Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew that she wanted to be an actor and for a number of years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. When she was ten, she had performed and taken part in many Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the film adaptation to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 it set new records for its debut day sales as well as its opening weekend earnings. Reviewers praised the film, particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Film. Film.
